The Poshmark $15 trap: when raising your price lowers your payout

Poshmark charges a flat $2.95 below $15 and 20% at $15 and above. Because 20% of $15 is more than $2.95, there is a narrow band where charging more leaves you with less.

What we found

Listing at $15.00 nets less than listing at $14.99, and the band does not close until $15.05.

Every figure below is computed by the same engine that runs the calculators on this site, from rates last verified 2026-09-05. Nothing here is typed by hand, so this page cannot disagree with the tools it links to.

What Poshmark charges

Poshmark’s Fee Policy is unusually short. There is no listing fee and no separate payment processing line. For sales under $15 the fee is a flat $2.95. For sales of $15 and above it is 20%, and you keep 80%.

Two rates, one boundary. The boundary is where the problem is, and it is a threshold rather than a band: at $15 the 20% applies to the whole amount, not to the part above $15. That distinction is what produces the effect below.

The arithmetic nobody mentions

20% of $15.00 is $3.00. The flat fee just below it is $2.95. The fee therefore jumps by five cents at the moment the price rises by one cent — so the seller ends up with less.

$15.50$3.10$12.40+$0.36
$20.00$4.00$16.00+$3.96

Listing at $15.00 leaves you with $12.00. Listing one cent lower, at $14.99, leaves you with $12.04 $0.04 more, for one cent less revenue.

How wide the band is

The effect is not a single price. It runs from $15.00 up to $15.04, and closes at $15.05, where the 80% share finally catches up with what the flat fee left you. Anything priced inside that band pays you less than $14.99 would have.

In practical terms: if you were going to list at anything from $15.00 to $15.04, either drop to $14.99 or go to $15.05. The prices in between are strictly worse than one of those two.

What this does not tell you

It does not tell you what to list at. A dollar of revenue is not the only thing that moves when you change a price — sitting at $14.99 may sell faster or slower than $15.05, and that is a judgement about your item and your buyers that no fee table can make.

Two further limits, both stated on the Poshmark calculator itself. Poshmark says the fee is taken from “the final order price” without defining whether buyer-paid shipping counts, so a shipped order is an estimate. And offers, bundles and Posh Show sales all change the final order price the fee lands on, which can move the boundary in either direction.

Why this is not on every Poshmark fee page

Because most of them state the two rates and stop. The rates are easy to publish; the boundary only shows up if you run the arithmetic at every price around it, which is what a calculator does and an article usually does not. That is the whole reason this site computes its guides rather than writing them.

Work it out for your own sale

These calculators are free, and they stay free

There is no account, no email wall and nothing for sale here, which is deliberate — it is what lets the site publish what platforms actually charge and link to where each rate came from. Re-reading ten fee schedules every week is the unglamorous part, and it is what keeps the numbers worth trusting. If that saved you a bad listing decision, you are welcome to put a little toward the domain and the hosting. If it did not, please do not.
