Buy Me a Coffee fee calculator
Tips, memberships and shop sales. 5%, plus 2.9% + $0.30 and a 0.5% payout fee.
Buy Me a Coffee has no monthly plan. It takes a 5% platform fee on every payment, and payments are processed by Stripe at 2.9% + $0.30, with a further 0.5% for payout processing. Two surcharges apply on top: 1% when the supporter is outside the US, and 0.5% on subscription payments such as memberships, which Buy Me a Coffee says cover the payout charge Stripe imposes. Because $0.30 of every payment is fixed, the share it takes is largest on a small tip.

Compare all platformsWhat this calculator does not cover
- Buy Me a Coffee states a 0.5% fee for payout processing without saying what it is a percentage of. It is applied here to the payment, like every other rate in the same list. If it is charged on the amount paid out instead, the real figure is a few cents lower.
- Buy Me a Coffee says the 1% international and 0.5% subscription surcharges cover the payout charge Stripe imposes. They are shown as separate lines and attributed to Buy Me a Coffee, which applies them.
- Creators can switch on a setting that makes supporters pay the card processing fee on top of their payment. Buy Me a Coffee does not say whether its 5% then applies to the larger amount, so that setting is not modelled; the figures here assume the default, where processing comes out of your earnings.
- Buy Me a Coffee says it now uses Stripe Standard Connect for some creator payouts. Its fee article does not say whether the processing rates above change for those accounts.
- No currency conversion fee is published, so none is modelled. The fee article does not mention shipping, so the calculator prices the payment amount only.

There is no account, no email wall and nothing for sale here, which is deliberate — it is what lets the site publish what platforms actually charge and link to where each rate came from. Re-reading ten fee schedules every week is the unglamorous part, and it is what keeps the numbers worth trusting. If that saved you a bad listing decision, you are welcome to put a little toward the domain and the hosting. If it did not, please do not.
