Discogs fee calculator

Records, CDs and tapes. 9% on item and shipping, capped at $150.

Discogs takes a 9% selling fee on the item price and the shipping the buyer pays, with a floor of $0.10 and a ceiling of $150 per order. Listing is free. Discogs does not process the payment itself: every order is paid through PayPal, which deducts its own processing fee from the same payment. So a Discogs sale carries two separate charges from two separate companies, and both are counted below.

What this calculator does not cover

  • Discogs says PayPal's processing fee is taken from the gross payment and refers sellers to PayPal's merchant fee page. This calculator applies PayPal's published US commercial transaction rate. A seller on a different PayPal rate — negotiated pricing, or a non-US account — will see a different processing figure; the Discogs selling fee is unaffected.
  • PayPal's fee is charged on the whole payment, which on a taxed order includes the sales tax Discogs collects as marketplace facilitator. Tax varies by buyer location and is not modelled, so on a taxed order processing runs slightly higher than shown.
  • Sellers outside the US pay the same 9% with a minimum and maximum set in their own currency (for example €0.10 and €150). These figures are for a seller listing in US dollars.
  • Fee taxes such as UK or EU VAT on the selling fee are added for sellers in those jurisdictions. Not modelled.

Discogs fees: common questions

How much are Discogs fees on a $50 sale?

$6.74 in fees on a $50 sale ($4.50 to Discogs and $2.24 to PayPal), leaving you $43.26 — an effective rate of 13.48%. On $100 it is $12.98, leaving $87.02. The effective rate is higher on the smaller sale because part of the fee is a fixed amount per transaction, which weighs more heavily on smaller orders.

What are Discogs' fees, exactly?

On a $50 sale, the fees are selling fee of $4.50 (9% of $50.00), PayPal commercial transaction rate of $1.75 (3.49% of $50.00), PayPal fixed fee of $0.49 ($0.49 flat). That comes to $6.74 in total. There is no monthly fee.

Does Discogs charge fees on shipping?

Yes. Fees on Discogs sales are charged as a share of the whole payment, which includes the shipping you charged the buyer. A $50 item with free shipping costs $6.74 in fees; the same item with $10 shipping costs $7.98 — $1.24 more, on shipping money that mostly goes to the carrier. Raising your shipping price raises your Discogs bill.

What should I charge on Discogs to keep $50?

Work it backwards rather than guessing: at Discogs' rates you have to charge more than $50 to keep $50, because the fee is taken from what the buyer pays. The what-to-charge calculator solves for the exact price, including any flat per-transaction fee, and rounds up to the cent so you are never left short.

What does this Discogs calculator not include?

Discogs says PayPal's processing fee is taken from the gross payment and refers sellers to PayPal's merchant fee page. This calculator applies PayPal's published US commercial transaction rate. A seller on a different PayPal rate — negotiated pricing, or a non-US account — will see a different processing figure; the Discogs selling fee is unaffected.

Are these Discogs fees up to date?

They were read from Discogs' own published fee schedule on October 3, 2026, and the source is linked on this page so you can check it yourself. An automated check re-reads every source page weekly and flags any that have changed. Fee schedules do move without notice, so where this page and Discogs disagree, Discogs is right.

That is what the fees on Discogs take. What the unit actually earns is another question again, once shipping, advertising and the orders that come back are in the picture — work out the true margin.

There is no account, no email wall and nothing for sale here, which is deliberate — it is what lets the site publish what platforms actually charge and link to where each rate came from. Re-reading ten fee schedules every week is the unglamorous part, and it is what keeps the numbers worth trusting. If that saved you a bad listing decision, you are welcome to put a little toward the domain and the hosting. If it did not, please do not.
