Reverb fee calculator

Music gear. 5% on item and shipping, capped at $500, plus 3.19% + $0.49.

Reverb charges two fees on every sale: a 5% selling fee and a payment processing fee of 3.19% + $0.49 through Reverb Payments, or 2.99% + $0.49 for Reverb Preferred Sellers. Both are charged on the total the buyer pays, shipping included. The selling fee has a $0.50 minimum and stops growing at $500, which it reaches on a $10,000 sale; processing has no cap. Listing is free. A buyer in another country adds a 1% cross-border fee, and listing in a currency other than the one you are paid in adds a 2.5% conversion fee.

What this calculator does not cover

  • Reverb charges payment processing on the full order total including sales tax. Tax varies by buyer location and is not modelled, so on a taxed order processing runs slightly higher than shown.
  • Reverb does not say what the 1% cross-border fee is charged on. This calculator applies it to the whole payment, the same base as processing.
  • Reverb assesses the 2.5% conversion fee on your earnings after payment processing fees. This calculator deducts processing and the cross-border fee from that base but not the selling fee; if Reverb deducts the selling fee first, the conversion fee is lower by 2.5% of it.
  • Bump, Reverb's optional promotion, charges a percentage you choose on the item and shipping, only if the bumped listing sells. The rate is set per listing, so it is not modelled.
  • Sellers where Reverb Payments is not available are paid through PayPal, which charges its own processing fee in place of Reverb's. Shipping labels bought from Reverb, and VAT or GST Reverb charges on its fees to sellers outside the US, are not modelled.

Reverb fees: common questions

How much does Reverb take from a $50 sale?

$4.59 in fees on a $50 sale, leaving you $45.41 — an effective rate of 9.18%. On $100 it is $8.68, leaving $91.32. The effective rate is higher on the smaller sale because part of the fee is a fixed amount per transaction, which weighs more heavily on smaller orders.

What are Reverb's fees, exactly?

On a $50 sale, the fees are selling fee of $2.50 (5% of $50.00), payment processing of $2.09 (3.19% of $50.00 + $0.49). That comes to $4.59 in total. There is no monthly fee.

Does Reverb charge fees on shipping?

Yes. Fees on Reverb sales are charged as a share of the whole payment, which includes the shipping you charged the buyer. A $50 item with free shipping costs $4.59 in fees; the same item with $10 shipping costs $5.40 — $0.81 more, on shipping money that mostly goes to the carrier. Raising your shipping price raises your Reverb bill.

What should I charge on Reverb to keep $50?

Work it backwards rather than guessing: at Reverb's rates you have to charge more than $50 to keep $50, because the fee is taken from what the buyer pays. The what-to-charge calculator solves for the exact price, including any flat per-transaction fee, and rounds up to the cent so you are never left short.

What does this Reverb calculator not include?

Reverb charges payment processing on the full order total including sales tax. Tax varies by buyer location and is not modelled, so on a taxed order processing runs slightly higher than shown.

Are these Reverb fees up to date?

They were read from Reverb's own published fee schedule on October 8, 2026, and the source is linked on this page so you can check it yourself. An automated check re-reads every source page weekly and flags any that have changed. Fee schedules do move without notice, so where this page and Reverb disagree, Reverb is right.

That is what Reverb takes. What the unit actually earns is another question again, once shipping, advertising and the orders that come back are in the picture — work out the true margin.

There is no account, no email wall and nothing for sale here, which is deliberate — it is what lets the site publish what platforms actually charge and link to where each rate came from. Re-reading ten fee schedules every week is the unglamorous part, and it is what keeps the numbers worth trusting. If that saved you a bad listing decision, you are welcome to put a little toward the domain and the hosting. If it did not, please do not.
